West-ward Pharmaceutical Adds Three Pilgrim Solutions to its Management Capabilities

Tampa, FL – December 20, 2006 –
Pilgrim Software, a leading provider of Enterprise Compliance and Quality Management (ECQM) software solutions, today announced that West-ward Pharmaceutical Corp. has purchased three integrated systems from Pilgrim’s SmartSolve® solution suite to further strengthen its regulatory management capabilities and standardize processes across its enterprise.  Earlier this year, West-ward went live with Pilgrim’s SmartComplaints to facilitate its complaint handling, and now will begin to implement SmartDoc, SmartCAPA and SmartTrain to ease additional key quality and compliance management efforts.

West-ward was seeking to address its overall document handling processes with a solution that would enable the entire enterprise to more efficiently record, track, monitor and share data within various departments and sites.  The company found solutions to these key concerns within Pilgrim’s integrated, out-of-the-box document, CAPA and training management software.

SmartDoc will allow West-ward to better manage its library of SOPs and permits, and other documents through more rapid and accurate traceability. SmartCAPA will enable West-ward to better manage its CAPA containment and investigations, and identify root causes of nonconformances and deviations,
thereby expediting resolutions.  SmartTrain will enable individual managers to identify employee training needs and certification status in a central, enterprise-wide repository, thereby ensuring an employee’s job readiness to perform specific functions.

“The investment that West-ward Pharmaceutical has made in Pilgrim’s software solutions helps it achieve its goal of maintaining complete control, visibility, and management of its processes, resulting in a standardization across the enterprise,” said Nikki Willett, Pilgrim Software’s Vice President of Marketing & Regulatory Products. “Using Pilgrim’s solutions, West-ward will enhance the effectiveness of, and streamline, its processes. Better processes translate into higher standards of quality, and reinforce West-ward’s well-known reputation as a reliable supplier by maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.”

West-ward has begun planning the implementation of the Pilgrim Software solutions at its Eatontown, NJ headquarters.  The implementation process will include complete software validation through Pilgrim’s exclusive 21 CFR Part 11 compliant Validation Packs to further ensure regulatory compliance across West-ward’s enterprise.
